March marks a spectacular time for angling in Sarasota, heralded by the arrival of an exciting array of fish. This month, anglers have excellent opportunities to reel in Spanish mackerel, kingfish, and cobia, as these species migrate in large numbers to our waters.
What’s Biting Now in Sarasota:
- Spanish Mackerel & Kingfish: The action is heating up for mackerel and kingfish along the coastal Gulf. Anglers can find success targeting these swift predators around artificial reefs and nearshore structures, using both live baits and artificial lures.
- Cobia & Tripletail: Keep an eye out near buoys and floating debris where cobia and tripletail are frequently spotted this time of year. These fish offer a robust challenge and are a thrilling catch for any sport fisherman.
- Snook: Snook fishing is in prime condition, especially around docks and mangroves. Warmer days bring the best activity, with night fishing around lighted docks proving exceptionally productive.
- Redfish: The shallow grass flats and mangrove shorelines are bustling with redfish. The best action comes during high tides, although some fish hold in potholes during lower tides.
- Trout: Trout are abundant on deep grass flats, with larger specimens appearing in shallow waters early in the morning.
Fishing conditions are prime, and as the water continues to warm, we anticipate even better catches. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the sport, now is the perfect time to book a trip and experience the best of Sarasota fishing.
